Alliance for Children - Childhood Shouldn't Hurt

Our Partners

Chris Huxham, author of Creating Collaborative Advantage, defines collaboration as “the exchange of information, the altering of activities, the sharing of resources, and the enhancement of the capacity of another for the mutual benefit of all.”

Alliance For Children shares just such a relationship with 14 Tarrant County law enforcement agencies,
  • Child Protective Services
  • Cook Children’s Medical Center
  • Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office

All of these agencies work together at Alliance For Children centers to reduce trauma to child abuse victims during investigation and to improve their agencies’ responses to children who are often frightened and hurting.

After abuse is confirmed, Alliance For Children staff members provide a seamless array of services that include
  • assessments for family needs,
  • case management and
  • group counseling services for abused children and protecting parents.
All of these services are free and available to families at each of the three centers.

Child abuse is a complex issue, and effective intervention is a complicated process. There are many different public and private agencies that address distinct parts of the problem, but Alliance For Children is the only agency that brings all of the parts together to offer efficient and coordinated services under one roof.

As a result of the collaboration, investigators and detectives are able to complete investigations in a more timely fashion, cases are stronger for prosecution, and children and protecting parents are more likely to benefit from available services.

Children are resilient and can recover from almost anything, if they are helped; most parents want to protect their children, but need support and encouragement to get the help they need after abuse is disclosed. The Alliance For Children collaboration provides that help.

Collaborating partners include Child Protective Services, Cook Children’s Medical Center, Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office, Tarrant County Sheriff ’s Department and the Police Departments of Arlington, Bedford, Colleyville, Euless, Fort Worth, Grapevine, Haltom City, Hurst, Keller, North Richland Hills, Richland Hills, Southlake and Watauga.
